The show will start during midseason in 2018 on the CW and will be 13 episodes long.

"The first African-American DC Super Hero to have his own stand-alone comic title, BLACK LIGHTNING is based on the character created by Tony Isabella with Trevor Von Eeden in 1977. Jefferson Pierce made his choice: he hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with one daughter hell-bent on justice and the other a star student being recruited by a local gang, he'll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend - Black Lightning."

  • Trailer Flashes back to 2005 with black lightning taking down someone and then it cuts to him at home and his then wife taking care of his wounds.
  • We then see what looks like the 100 gang getting out of a car and Jefferson promising his wife to stop fighting crime and the 100 for the sake of their two daughters 
  • We then cut to 2017 where we see he has become the principal of Garfield high school while the 100 gang and violence has gotten worse and his youngest daughter caught in it. 
  • This of course inspires him to put his (new and improved) suit back on and we get some action shots of him in his suit against the 100 gang.
  • We also get some shots of his daughters exhibiting their powers which could be an interesting story arc they could play within the series.
  • I also thought it was interesting that the had Jefferson's daughter narrating the trailer and interested to see how big of a part she is going to play in the story.
